the Tambo River in Southern Living

The trip and tour of Atalaya, in the Amazon Basin some 300 km away from our place of residence in Villa Rica, became an adventure that we enjoyed three team members, Joseph, Lorena and Juan Cruz. Although it may seem a distance that can be traveled in a short period of time the hours and the road longer. First go the abuser and tortuous road (to call them that) from Villa Rica to La Merced, about two hours, then travel to Satipo that although the road is paved are another three hours. Satipo to Puerto Prado, entering the forest with its beautiful scenery and vegetation, and already after three hours to reach the harbor where a boat sailing on the Tambo River, a tributary of the Ucayali which flows into the Amazon, you find your destination, Atalaya. In total more than twelve hours of travel that has become an adventure and experience.

This trip we did a very diverse group of nationalities that we all shared every moment and every moment of our trip. We traveled Italians, Colombians, Hungarian, Canadian, American, Peruvian and English. All we were left wondering at every landscape, people, places ... the fatigue of travel hours left behind as we enter the jungle and river. The banks full of vegetation lush, indigenous natives from the river, clouds that seemed ... cottons are the series of memories that never forget this trip.

Halfway through our tour of the Tambo River we made a stop on Cheney's mission. Our landing seemed an image of reality TV Survivors, each carrying their backpacks, tents, boxes food and water and everything you need to spend the night. Following a small path that was outlined in the woods of the forest appears Cheny. A place full of charm, beautiful, who seemed the picture of the Garden of Eden. Cheny was all in color, peace and tranquility. Once set up our camp next to the mission we got to know the native communities that live there, their daily lives, their homes and the new livestock project being developed. Cheney's visit is recorded in our hearts travelers and although we'd have liked to stay longer we waited more hours of boat on the river to Atalaya.
